Starting on International Women’s Day, Kunstmuseum Den Haag presents the first solo exhibition in the Netherlands of Polish artist Maria Pinińska-Bereś (1931–1999). This remarkable exhibition brings together soft materials and bold themes in powerful sculptures, installations, and performances. Pink – her signature colour – is not sweet here, but a symbol of resistance and freedom.
For this exhibition, Iwaarden created the floor elements that form an integral part of the artworks. We produced and installed a total of 200 m² of floor stickers, printed in PMS 428 full colour on Roughmark – a durable floor film finished with a matte, scratch-resistant laminate.
We supported the entire process – from digitisation to installation – with attention to both technical precision and artistic intent. A project that required a combination of craftsmanship and sensitivity to the museum context.
Is a Woman a Human Being? presents nearly fifty works, including sculptures, installations, performance props, and archival material. Pinińska-Bereś’ use of pink as a symbol of protest addresses themes such as femininity, power, and freedom – questions that remain strikingly relevant today.
Is a Woman a Human Being? is on view at Kunstmuseum Den Haag until 17 August 2025.
